3rd Annual Christmas Toy Drive
Community Give Back
Supporting our local communities has always been a top priority for HARBRIDGE + CROSS. Over the last few months, our community has been challenged with ramped inflation, increased interest rates and food insecurity. With the holidays around the corner this creates compound stress as families struggle with difficult decisions to provide food on the table or gifts under the tree. HARBRIDGE + CROSS has been fortunate to be part of a thriving industry and employ top talented, caring team members that recognize our success in the field is predicated with success in our local communities.
On November 15, 2022 our Head Office JHSC committee recommended that we continue with our annual community give back initiative by participate in the CHUM CP24 Christmas toy drive. This was met with great enthusiasm and excitement from Sr. Management as they recalled our success with last year’s program where we raised 110 news Toys. As such, Sr. Management and the JHSC were embolden to set a high stakes goal and raising 200 Toys for the charity, 80% increase from last year.
The Christmas Wish program was established in 1966 as the CHUM Kid’s Crusade Foundation, for the purpose of assisting children in need and children’s charities. The Christmas Wish program has become one of the largest distributors of toys to those in need in the GTA and provides financial assistance to hundreds of agencies.
Toy Drive Program:
Start-End Date: November 15 to December 16
Participants: Harbridge + Cross staff, office and field members.
Goal: Raise a minimum of 200 Toys, 80% increase from last year
Over the following weeks, the Safety Department and JHSC worked diligently to get the message out and promote our Toy Drive through the use of our weekly Toolbox talks, special memo and companywide email to staff.
The response has been tremendous as donations have come in by the dozens from both field and office personnel.
On December 16, the JHSC performed a closeout of our toy drive. During the closeout we are proud to announce we raised 140 toys for the Christmas Wish program, a 27% increase from last year however, despite our best efforts fell short of our initial goal of 200 toys.
A special thank you goes out to Maria Musacchio, Co-Chair JHSC and the rest of the JHSC for their tireless efforts in organizing this event, setting up the display and galvanizing staff to join us in the spirt of community support.
