Thanksgiving Food Drive – York Region Food Bank
Community Give Back

Supporting our local communities has always been a top priority for HARBRIDGE + CROSS. In a time of high inflation, food insecurity and the stress of not being able to put food on the table for families our support programs have become more important as an engine to support our local communities and neighbors.
On August 29, 2023 our Head Office JHSC committee recommended that HARBRIDGE + CROSS participate in a Thanksgiving Food Drive for the York Region Food Bank as per past practice. Once again, this initiate was strongly support by our Sr. Management and on September 5, we began our Food Drive in partnership with the York Region Food Bank.

The York Region Food Bank is a program of LifeCorps International, a Canadian charity dedicated to alleviating human suffering by providing basic human needs. The mission is to create a food distribution hub for non-profit food access program in York Region. Partnering with Farmers, Retail stores, Wholesales and Food Manufacturer they supply healthier food choices to vulnerable residents.
Food Drive Program:
Start-End Date: September 5 to October 6,
Participants: Office and field members.
Goal: Fundraise 1000 units of food and raise $500 in cash.
Drop off location: Any H+C jobsite or Head Office Lobby.

Over the last few weeks, our JHSC and Safety Department have worked diligently to get the message out and promote our Food Drive program by using Toolbox talks, special memo and posted on our jobsite Safety Boards.
The response has been tremendous as donations have come in by the dozens.


By the end of the food drive, our staff has raised 710 units of food, slightly below our target goal however more than last year’s contribution. Head Office generated over 680 units and our jobsites contributed just under 30 units. This includes: 321 can goods, 44 packs of pasta, 13 jars of peanut butter, 110 boxed food, 144 Mr. Noodles and 7 bags of rice. Additionally, HARBRIDGE + CROSS raised $600 in cash to the York Region Food Bank that was presented to Alex Bilotta, President of the York Region Food Bank.

A special thank you to Nikki Dorkin our JHSC Co-Chair and Head Office Health & Safety Rep and to the rest of the JHSC for their tireless efforts in organizing this event, setting up the display and galvanizing staff to join us in the spirt of community support.
