HARBRIDGE + CROSS

Thanksgiving Food Drive – York Region Food Bank

Community Give Back

Supporting our local communities has always been a top priority for Harbridge + Cross. In the year of the COVID-19 pandemic, this support is more important than ever as we see our local neighbours struggle with food insecurity, depression and the uncertainty of putting food on the table for families.

On August 30, 2021 our Head Office JHSC committee recommended that this year, Harbridge + Cross participates in the York Region Food Bank – Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive. This was met with great backing from Sr. Management and on September 10 we began our Food Drive in partnership with the York Region Food Bank.

The York Region Food Bank is a program of LifeCorps International, a Canadian charity dedicated to alleviating human suffering by providing basic human needs. The mission is to create a food distribution hub for non-profit food access program in York Region. Partnering with Farmers, Retail stores, Wholesales and Food Manufacturer they supply healthier food choices to vulnerable residents.

Toy Drive Program:

Start-End Date: September 10 to October 8,

Participants: Harbridge + Cross, office and field members.

Goal: Fundraise 100 units of food and raise $500 in cash.

Drop off location: Head Office Lobby.

Over the last few weeks, our JHSC and Safety Department have worked diligently to get the message out and promote our Food Drive program by using Toolbox talks and Special memo posted on our jobsite Safety Boards.

The response has been tremendous as donations have come in by the dozens.

By the end of the food drive, our staff has raised 320 units of food which is a 220% increase from our initial program goal including: 159 can goods, 25 packs of pasta, 96 Mr. Noodles and 5 bags of 8kg jasmine rice. Sr. Management also donated $500 to the York Region Food Bank that was presented to Sarah Smith Program Manager at our head office.

We are so proud of the level of generosity and charitability exhibited by our team”.

Michael Arduini (Health & Safety Manager).

A special thank you goes out to Domenica Falzone our JHSC Co-Chair and Head Office Health & Safety Rep and the rest of the JHSC for their tireless efforts in organizing this event, setting up the display and galvanizing staff to join us in the spirt of community give support.

Community giveback is an essential part of Harbridge + Cross’s corporate culture. “We build strong relationships”, not only in our industry but in the communities, we live and grow in. We strengthen our communities by supporting those in need.

We thank everyone for their generous support and wish you and your family a Happy Thanksgiving.
